Travel to and from campus
Green Mountain community members are fortunate in that we live in Poultney--a quiet, safe, rural, historic village that is at the same time close to major cosmopolitan centers and transportation hubs. Albany International is the closest large airport, though flights are available to both Burlington and Rutland, VT. Amtrak connects the region by train to Albany, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Montreal, and other major cities via stops in Castleton, VT (7 miles from GMC) and Whitehall, NY (10 miles).
GMC offers shuttles to the Castleton train station and to Albany Airport. The Albany Airport shuttle is $20 one-way and $30 round trip. There is no charge for the trip to the Castleton train station. Students must reserve a spot on the shuttles in advance. They must pay for the shuttle to Albany airport in advance, which is handled at the Student Financial Services Office in Pollock Hall. Shuttle schedules are posted on MyGMC.
"The Bus" connects Poultney to the greater Rutland region for $2 per ride.
