A Note from Career Services

Dear Parents of First Year Students,

Welcome to Green Mountain College!

We are delighted that your child has chosen to pursue a collegiate education at our remarkable school.  As part of the process of our students’ transition into their new community, we encourage them to make their way to the Office of Career and Personal Development.  We welcome you to do the same!

Our office is located in the CAT Center (adjacent to the Withey Lobby) and our office hours are Monday-Friday, from 9-5pm.

We oversee a comprehensive career advising and planning program for students and alumni and offer individual guidance pertaining to career exploration or deciding on a college major.  We also present workshops on how to write compelling resumes, cover letters and graduate school applications.

Your student will see us in the classroom, providing insight about how to present themselves confidently and professionally, successfully answer interview questions, network with alumni, use social media, scour the internet, and make connections to facilitate the search for summer internships and full time jobs.

In the Fall, we facilitate on-campus visits by employers and graduate school representatives.  In the Spring, we coordinate the annual Making a Difference, Making a Living conference for which GMC alumni return to campus to conduct mock interviews and share information about their career path and personal journey to finding fulfilling life’s work.

Please encourage your child to attend a workshop, take part in the conference or make an appointment with us to receive individualized career and personal development counseling.  We look forward to meeting them!
